J.J.Burnel - Bourges Festival, France 6th April 1989

This audience recording captures J.J. at a French festival promoting the "Un Pour Jarfait" album as well as popping a couple of covers into the set (closing with the Spencer Davis Groups "I'm A Man"). Not a bad sound for an audience recording but is definately better during the songs than the inbetween chat which can be a bit muffled but this isn't much of an issue, especially if you don't understand French!

Couple of special ones in one download....first we have 4 demos recorded at the Mountain Studio, Wales in March 1976 and then a short set recorded for the BBC's "Rock Goes To College". This was a fairly bad tempered affair and we get 4 tracks and some student baiting thrown in for good measure!

Theatre Royal, Nottingham, England 19th August 1980

This was filmed for the "Rockstage" programme and also broadcast on radio so you know this is great quality. Half the set comes from the at that time latest album "The Raven" plus we also get an early outing of "Thrown Away" which was demoed for the album but would have to wait for the following years "(Gospel According To) The Men in Black". As I have said previously many things posted here have come from other sites and sources in order to try and make a specialist Stranglers site and I would like to that the Big Box Of Tapes bootlegs site for this and many other gigs posted here. They have a wide range of bands and are well worth checking out! http://bigboxoftapes.blogspot.com/

Reading Festival, England 26th August 1983

http://www.mediafire.com/?dazzfmz2kaj

The 1983 Reading Festival marked the end of the long running 3 day festival which started life in 1970. The Stranglers headlined the Friday night on a day that saw a varity of different musical genres. Pallas, Solstice and Pendragon represented the new prog wave of bands (Marillion played the Saturday and Twelfth Night the Sunday), Hanoi Rocks bought their glam/punk New York Dolls sound, Man were there on the least likely of days to find their fan base and Big Country were special guests. Steel Pulse tried (twice) to get the audience to listen rather than chuck bottles before deciding that the Reading Festival wasn't really the place for a reggae band, shame really as I like Steel Pulse!

This is a great quality radio broadcast complete with Hugh musing on who had the "sick sense of humour" to book the band for a predominately "Heavy Metal" festival as well as dedicating a song for all those who like "heavy music" and then launching into "Golden Brown"!

The Agora Ballroom, Cleveland, OH, U.S.A. 3rd March 1978 (Black & White -North America)

This great sounding show is from the North American tour promoting Black & White and has often been referred to as the "Eastern Front" bootleg (in the bad old days where you bought them unheard for silly money). As a bonus this also features a 4 track Peel Session from 1977. **Note the text included in the download lists this show as being the 7th of March however if the venue is correct then this should be the 3rd.**
